Beth's Chatter

Beth's talking has improved massively in the past 3 weeks, she has gone from 2 words like : 'milk daddy'  to longer sentances of 5 or 6 words. It's really amazing to watch her trying to work out how to articulate what she wants to say.

She comes out with statements like 'Ann, Beth own home' when asking Hannah's friend Ann to come to our house, and 'Ann Pram Ann own house, Beth pram Beth own house'.

She really is improving daily

Weekend

We had a quite weekend at the house, because Beth got the special treat of staying with her Grandparents. She got to go shopping, and on Sunday had the special treat of going to Old Macdonalds  Farm (http://www.oldmacdonaldsfarm.org.uk/). Beth loves horses.

We got on with cleaning out the loft. Several boxes of books are now destined for either a boot fair (if we can find one) or a charity shop.

A new addition

Hannah's brother Jim and his wife Rachel are proudly showing off their baby son, Patrick.

Young Paddy was born late on Friday night after a very long (and difficult) day for his mum and dad.

However, despite looking as if he's joined his dad in a scrum, he seems to be very happy and contented. We visited yesterday, and said hello, however he didn't really seem that interested in anybody but his mum.

Beth was facinated by "baby pat pat", but a sleeping baby didn't maintain her interest for too long. I'll check out the photos we took later and if we've got a good one, I'll add it to the site.

Toothy Girl

Heather cut her first tooth yesterday. It's on the bottom, and still too small to be seen. Hannah had to deal with several interuptions to her sleep last night to administer Calgel. Apart from that Heather seems quite happy.

Fish Girl

Beth enjoyed her weekly swimming trip yesterday. She swam under water for the first time.

Night out

Hannah and I had our second night out together since Heather was born last night. We went to see Troy.

I thought it was great, good story, lots of action, well acted.

Hannah thought it was crap except for Brad Pitts' six pack.

Heather's Christening

We'd like to thank all of you who attended the christening for coming. It makes a special day all the more special to have our friends and family there.

If you couldn't make it, then we hope to see you soon.

My Parents Arrive

My parents rolled up this morning at 5:45 after driving down from Scotland throught the night. I had originally booked tickets with Ryanair, however their passports expired last week, with no time to renew them and no other photo id, they would have been unable to board the flight.

The tickets cost me £70, booking last week. Ryanair wanted £60 to change the dates on the tickets. I have in the past booked two return flights for much less than £60. So the seats are going to be empty.

That's annoying in itself, however I think it's truly disgusting that you now need a passport to travel from Glasgow to London.

On my way home last night...

Coming round Aldgate on the bike, I was cut up by a bloke in a Golf who was weaving a little. I was just thinking to myself, "Do you not know what a lane is?" and deliberatly steering clear of him, when he rear ended the car in front of him causing a concertina effect for about 3 or 4 cars.

I was level with each car as they hit, and then I was past, through the junction. It did make me ride a bit more carefully for the rest of the way home.

On the mend

Heather's chickenpox seems to be on the mend. all the spots have dried out and are starting to fade. We're just hoping she doesn't scar.

House Move

It looks like our house move is on, with sold signs up outside both houses. We're waiting on our buyer ordering the survey done on our house, before we order the survey on the new house.

After last year's shenanigans, we're being careful, I don't want to end up a grand and a half out of pocket again.

Chickenpox facts

A few facts about chickenpox

Definitely chickenpox

Unfortunately Heather has contracted chickenpox. She seems to have a worse case than Beth (if number of spots is anything to go by). She is currently covered in calamine lotion.

At least the heatwave has broken, so hopefully she won't be too uncomfortable.

More chickenpox

Hannah thinks that Heather is showing signs of chickenpox this morning. Not good news as it will mean another couple of weeks of quarintine for Hannah and the kids. No visiting friends, or toddler groups or swimming. Being confined to the house is not nice at the height of summer.
